Act Now: End AIDS (ANEA) Coalition is proud to release our latest EHE Assessment Report, offering critical insights into how local jurisdictions are advancing toward the goals of the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative.

This report is informed by data collected from ANEA coalition members, non-affiliated community advocates, and health department staff through a combination of online surveys and key informant interviews. The assessment sheds light on current strengths, persistent gaps, and emerging opportunities for jurisdictions receiving EHE funding.

Key Findings

  • Meaningful Involvement of People Living with HIV (PLHIV): A strong commitment across jurisdictions to involve people living with or at risk for HIV as community leaders.

  • Training & Capacity Building: Jurisdictions expressed eagerness for continued training, especially in areas where skill gaps exist.

  • Digital Outreach: Increased use of social media and digital tools to promote HIV prevention, care, and treatment information.

  • Expanded Testing Access: Widespread implementation of HIV home testing kits, available through telehealth, toll-free numbers, and online requests.

  • Ongoing Training Needs: Jurisdictions identified the need for support in:

    • Data management

    • Engagement and retention strategies for immigrant and high-stigma communities

    • Prioritizing limited funding and conducting gap analyses

Recommendations

The report outlines specific recommendations to support EHE progress, including:

  • Expanding access to ongoing training

  • Implementing a syndemic approach to service delivery

  • Developing new and innovative ways to engage people living with and at risk for HIV

Acknowledgments

This report would not have been possible without the dedication of our ANEA team and the community members and health professionals who shared their experiences and insights. Their contributions are vital to understanding how we can better support local efforts to end the epidemic.
